BADLANDS
Badlands
Koch Records

As my good buddies said of a recent Jerry Finn-produced record: "you can't polish a turd..."  Well, twelve years have passed since this "landmark" album by Badlands was released, and it still sounds equally primitive and laughable to me.  Sure, you had an amazing lineup in Ray Gillen (R.I.P.), Greg Chaisson (whose brothers also played in hair-bands), Jake E. Lee and drum-whore Eric Singer, but somethings that are destined for brilliance just don't work.  There's a reason why Metal Sludge called them one of the worst hair-bands of the era, they had no image nor anything especially-memorable to them beyond the musicianship.  Rather than buying albums that did indeed suck the first time around, buy the latest Enuff Znuff record "10" as they've progressed quite a bit.  Or see them on the Glam Slam Metal Jam tour!
