CURVE

Gift

Artfully piling layers of techno-tribal beats against catapulting riffs and throbbing basslines, the majestic grit and grace of Curves's pounding "Gift" is a massive purr and pounce of sonic witchery. Vocalist Toni Halliday slithers gleefully through the thicket of sharp beats conjured by partner Dean Garcia in a voice that warns as it waxes warmly of the terrors within. Envision a jungle paranoid Madonna that rocks out over dense textures of colliding sounds then floats suggestively over a serene sheen of tender desperation. The effect is both haunting and humane. A tightly wrapped package of cooing rhythms "Gift," continues in Curve's previous vein of glossy Goth pop that lures and lashes out, tempting as it threatens, inviting forbidden entrance to intriguing oceans of restless dreams.
