Prospering in the golden age of classic rock, Jethro Tull's first three albums combined the fruits of Traffic and Cream, nipping at the heels of Zeppelin and Crimson to conjure a wicked hippy vibe that was classic without cliche. Tull's beautifully villainous folk swung with hard-edged riffs and jazz-flecked jams, intricate cerebral rock with roots that spread from the blues to baroque. Their legacy lives on in such diverse outfits as the Beta Band, Pearl Jam, and Phish, but none have approached these early groundbreakers.  Uniting singles like "Teacher" and "Living in the Past" to the album of their time makes these remastered releases pleasingly ripe with radio staples. Over thirty years and thirty albums later, Tull will always be known by these incredible beginnings.
