THE SCORPION KING

Motion Picture Soundtrack
Universal Records
www.universalrecords.com

Packing such industry giants as Godsmack, Creed, System Of A Down, and Nickelback, the Scorpion King soundtrack appears to have the makings of one of the better rock soundtracks to surface this year.  Unfortunately, the overall experience is a bit of a letdown, or at least a surprise, considering the bands contributing.

The first single, Godsmack's "I Stand Alone," is undeniably the track that drives the album and has helped it secure a coveted spot in Billboard's Top Ten.

Contributions from Rob Zombie, Creed, Godsmack, Coal Chamber, and Mushroomhead may cause the mouths of metal fans everywhere to water, but beware... System of a Down, Sevendust, and other would-be hard hitters have opted for more melodic tunes this time around.

A mix of new, old, and unreleased tracks from pop, rock, and metal artists make The Scorpion King soundtrack extremely diverse and interesting but not quite as heavy as one might have expected.
