Rookie Of The Year
This past August, Rookie of the Year, from Fayetteville, North Carolina released their second full length album titled ‘Sweet Attention.’ The album reached the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers #21 and #9 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist chart in it’s first week. With over 30,000 album sales, Rookie of the Year has made a name for themselves and created a strong following of fans.
Mike Kamerman, lead guitarist for Rookie of the Year, talked about his excited for the album. “We spent a lot of time working on this album and put a lot of emotion into it, and we know you will be able to hear that when you listen to it.”
The music critics agreed with Kamerman. AbsolutePunk.net said, “I instantly fell in love with the gorgeous vocals, lush soaring choruses, harmonic guitar leads, and the heaps upon heaps of layers and accents.” Songs from the album have played on MTV’s The Hill’s as well as heavy rotation of their music video on MTVU.
Rookie of the Year has clocked over 250,000 miles touring across the country. They have toured the country heavily, playing shows night after night with label heavyweights Secondhand Serenade, Mae and Cute Is What We Aim For.
The mileage will increase quite a bit on this tour. The band is doing twenty eight shows over thirty days. Ryan Dunson, lead singer of Rookie of the Year, said, “Getting on the road is the best part of making all of this music. Sure, it’s great to record the music, but it really is great to get to play the music on front of our fans.”
The band has over seven million plays on their MySpace page. Dunson said, “I am excited to see that we have such a strong following of listeners. I can’t wait to get back on the road on our first ever headlining tour across the country.”
The show will begin at 6:00pm and they will be playing with School Boy Humor, Jet Lag Gemini and Kiernan McMullan. Tickets can be purchased online or at the venue.
