Redefine your dance moves when you get down to the jagged jazz disturbances generated by this trio composed of trumpet, baritone sax and drums. Honing their craft by blowing peoples minds while subway busking in NYC, TMZ is a squealing barrage of brass over dynamic defining beats that results in an invigorating booty shaking funk-jazz jam session.

Androcell - Imbue

According to Androcell (aka Tyler Smith), the definition of his fourth full-length release, “Imbue”, is “inspire or permeate with a feeling or quality.” He accomplishes this by showing off a deep passion for blending a multitude of music styles, instruments, and cultures within the realm of electronic dub inspired music. Such an immersion of flowing ambiance and vivid organic textures has captured my listen repeatedly.

Zonra - Is, Was, and Always Will Be

Beautiful, complex and thought-provoking multi-layered melodic textures and churns flow throughout mid-tempo electronica. Complex and compelling psychedelic glitch-hop nuances and breakbeat grooves litter the lively landscapes, highlighting this Denver producer’s attention to detail.

Lords of Acid - Lords of Acid

After 12 long years the mighty Praga Khan, along with longtime collaborator Erhan Kurkun, bring us a new full length orgy of punky electro industrial deliciousness. This is a fantastic, feisty, fun, booty shakin’ party album with great grooves, wide stylistic variances and witty lyrics plus an ever apparent sex appeal. Yummy!

Mekong Delta - Intersections

How do you create a technical thrash metal band for 2012? Start in the mid 1980s! Founded in the 80s by producer and bass player Ralf Hubert and surviving decades of band changes and turmoil, this release gives new life to a variety of their acclaimed classics utilizing the technology and band lineup of today, while enabling the band to get out and tour the world again.

Kmang Kmang - Drifting

Defying traditional classical guitar structures to incorporate indie rock angst and prog rock finesse with jazzy improvisational plateaus brings this Chicago based collective to a unique perfection. Founded by Barmey Ung, a Cambodian transplant, the compositions effortlessly delve into Flamenco, Samba, as well as traditional Cambodian Music.

Lance Lopez - Handmade Music

Starting in New Orleans and mentored by Buddy Miles (Band of Gypsys) this ballsy blues guitarist has been a professional musician since the age of 14. At the age of 18 he became Lucky Peterson’s band leader. Now on this, his second solo release, he starts off jumpin but gets gritty, soulful and introspective in the middle.

Blockhead - Bells and Whistles

Snatching snippets across time and genre, Blockhead provides a fine blend of vintage ambiance crossed with contemporary electronica. Surges of warped melodies find home amid the morphed mantras, jazzy infections and serene soundscapes.

Dopapod - Never Odd or Even

Album number 4 finds our palindrome heroes tighter, broader, more defined, and roaring with exuberant new material. Strong jams and great breakdowns are the highlights that propel this swiftly flowing funky rock with electronic embellishments and melodic grooves to new frontiers and expectations.

Soulacybin - Funkerpump

Liquid beats drip over hyper glitched bass bumps while living in a glistening alien landscape. Squishing upbeat ambiance becomes writhing dance experimentations while abduction fantasies are punctuated by space dub delights and psychedelic planetary perspectives. Yet another delightful Denver treat! 

Yaima - Pellucidity

As the term pellucidity means “to allow the maximum passage of light, to see clearly, as clear as fresh water in a mountain lake,” the album named from that term fills listeners’ ears with clear visions of floating melodies that glide amid world rhythms harnessing haunting yet beautiful soundscapes that are anchored by blissful female vocals on a sonic journey through the cosmos within and without. 

Todd Terje - It’s Album Time

Immediate affection! Whimsical expressions of disco found mingling with loungy cocktail exotica are key to the significance and fluidity of the first full length release from Norwegian DJ, songwriter, and record producer Terje. The album manages to time travel between several eras while garnering the kitschy, catchy, quirky, quaint and queefless aspects of each, which is not an easy task, but it sure is fun!
