Stealin Strings - Waves

With a new bassist under their belt, these rising rockin’ bluegrass pompadours are once again making their way through the festival circuit this summer. They were the only band I noticed at Bella Sol that was given the opportunity due to their versatility, depth of sound and song content to play a set on the main stage plus an acoustic set on the tent stage.

Burning Brides - Anhedonia

A hard rockin’ trio pumping out a flavorful spin on heavy alternative rock with a heavy hand in the low end grooves and a droning swagger filled with post punk angst and profound awareness. “Anhedonia” means the inability to gain pleasure from enjoyable experiences.

Dengue Fever - Venus On Earth

Have you been searching for 60’s retro Cambodian pop rock with a psychedelic slur and female vocals? Then look no further than this flamboyant Los Angeles-based group to fulfill your need!

Lauren Harris - Calm Before The Storm

Surprisingly tame, straight forward and stereotypical “chick” rock from the daughter of legendary Iron Maiden bassist, Steve Harris. I was really hoping for a lot more.

Legendary Shack Shakers - Swampblood

Wailing hillbilly psycho swamp rock with a gothic snicker and a bluesy swagger showing off the strange and soulful American South. This is the third and final installment of the “Tentshow Trilogy.” Git sum!

Mike Zito - Today

Soulful bluesy roots rock combined with pop singer/songwriter mischief. Zito got into music at an early age and has a veteran attitude to compliment. The vocal delivery strikes me as having a Dave Matthews-ish sashay layered in an adult-contemporary musical playground.

8889 - Zoology

Singer/songwriter styled alt/indie rock from Madison. This follow-up to their MAMA winning debut album finds a well-defined, well-thought through chunk of moody alt music. For my ear candy I prefer a bit more intensity and cleverness.

Melvins - Nude With Boots

Repeating the lineup of their prior release, King Buzzo and crew blast through a perky platter of lowbrow musical adjectives and adverbs to arise victorious and refreshed after the 872nd year of the band’s existence. Viva La Melvins!

Mock Orange - Captain Love

Casting an indie rock aura for meters in all directions, this tried and true band has weathered thru a lawsuit from George Lucas (for their Dead Droid Record Label) and come out crafty, quirky and generally plucky.

Natalia Zukerman - Brand New Frame

It is a bit of a conundrum how the daughter of a flutist and a violinist manages to find herself producing tantalizing bluesy guitar rock driven by her husky vocals. Her Americana attitude intermingles with a country and folk backbone while being complimented by the Willy Porter production.

Scifi - Scifi

Spaced out, mostly non-vocal jam rock that finds footholds in the jazz, funk, soul and techno world. At times the floaty jazzy grooves have whisked me off to a distant planet of fuzz, love and murmur. Delightful!

- Drown Out The Daylights

Highlighting the cream of their musical crop, Crustacean Records (Wisconsin’s most prolific and longest lasting punk/indie label) provides us with a double DVD visual vanguard for 10 of their most amazing performers. Over 2 ½ hours long with tons of extras.
