Twenty One Pilots - Trench

Bands with 2 billion+ hit videos are hard to ignore. That being said, this groups bizarre yet amazingly attractive conflagration of alt rock, hip hop, metal, and singer songwriter swings are often as confounding as they are comforting. But it works! Trench definitely captures their signature sound and approach, but simply isn’t quite as high strung as prior releases. It is still lyrically provoking though and offers a bunch of great songs and potential mega hits.

Greatest Showman: Reimagined - Various Artists

The Greatest Showman was a landmark musical film and the songs it contains are iconic. Ripples of it’s popularity have been shaking the musical universe since it was released. Now you have the chance to hear 13 tracks reimagined by some of today’s top pop artists including Kesha, Kelly Clarkson, Panic! at the Disco, Pentatonix, P!nk, and Willow Sage Hart (P!nk’s daughter). Imagine Dragons - Origins

What an album! These double platinum producing, Grammy winning pop icons deliver another masterpiece with several smash hits as well as several other songs (rounding out this 12 track release) that show off the evolution of their artistic diversity and depth, but not in the same predictable ways as their past releases. If you haven’t heard Natural, Bad Liar or Zero off this album, you will soon, as they are all destined to be classics!

Andy Frasco & The UN - Change of Pace

Super fun and party forward, Andy Frasco & The UN have toured through 10 countries, average 250 shows per year and have somehow managed to output 10,000+ hours playing music. Change of Pace adds more soul to their fabulous freaky funk, showing off their natural evolution as a band, while not losing their edge or originality.

Ayla Nereo - By the Light of the Dark Moon

The delicate interplay of vocal melodies and seductive rhythms is what makes this a standout release. Often collaborating and touring with Polish Ambassador, this sixth solo album for singer-songwriter Ayla Nereo finds her on her own, with her sound stronger and more developed than ever. The overlying concept of the album deals with shadow work and the healing reconciliation of self acceptance. As such, this dark moon-light brightens and grows with each listen! SOOHAN - Trānsmūtō

Accelerating his unique musical style of amalgamating global snippets formulated from a persistent multi cultural appreciation, SOOHAN’s infectious 7th album, named from the Latin trāns- + mūtō (“change, alter”), uniquely splices kitchy American pop music with regional dance and folk music into bass heavy mixes. His sample heavy electronic experiments are clever and entertaining to listen to, as well as catchy and danceable (if ya wanna get up and shake!)

Babymetal - Metal Galaxy

Nothing short of a fascinating anomaly in the world of music, the chart topping (recently #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart) Japanese group Babymetal mixes the vocals and choreographed movements of a trio of cutesy teeny bopper type girls with anthemic, super heavy, metal music. This release is a loose concept album about being dispatched to distant parts of the universe. After headlining performances at many prestigious festivals around the world, who knows which part of the universe they will explore next?

Art Paul Schlosser & Frankie Pobar Lay - Cartoons

Art Paul Schlosser is one of Madison’s most prolific musical street buskers. On this round of tunes, with the help of Frankie Pobar Lay, he focuses on songs about cars. Production values aren’t great and most songs were recorded live, but each CD cover is a one of a kind artwork by Art Paul himself. My song favorites are “Banksy Graffiti My Car”, “I Left My Phone In My Car” and “Let’s Make Taco Trucks Great Again.” For a tip and a smile he’s sure to play your favorite next time you see him.
