Tuesday January 4, 2011
Source: MSO

Slash will join Ozzy Osbourne for a five-week U.S. arena tour beginning January 16 in Omaha, NE and wrapping February 22 in Jacksonville, Fl. For the trek with his bandmates Myles Kennedy (lead vocals), Bobby Schneck (rhythm guitar), Todd Kerns (bass) and Brent Fitz (drums), Slash will pull songs from his first-ever true solo album (Dik Hayd Records via EMI Label Services), a certain selection of Guns N’ Roses tunes, a little Velvet Revolver and even some Snakepit gems. (dates listed below).

In April, the guitarist and songwriter released the acclaimed SLASH which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #3 (#1 on the Rock chart, #1 on the Independent chart, and #1 on the Hard Music chart). Digitally, the album also became the #1 overall digital album and hit #1 on iTunes in 13 countries. Internationally, the disc achieved Top 5 chart positions on over a dozen major territories, hitting #1 in both Japan and New Zealand. The 14-song disc features collaborations with vocalists from Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Ian Astbury, Lemmy Kilmister, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, and Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother.

The current single and video for the song “Beautiful Dangerous” features Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. Watch the eyebrow-raising clip here:

Bret Michaels discusses upcoming heart surgery

Wednesday December 8, 2010
Source: Extra

“Extra caught up with Bret Michaels at the 2010 American Country Awards, where the rocker was presenting an award—and he told us that his heart surgery will be happening soon. “In January, I get my heart operation,” Michaels explained. “I’m feeling about 80% right now, but once I get that done, I’m gonna be feeling a lot better!” The singer continued, “I’m just excited to be here. My first music I listened to was country music. That’s what my dad raised me on.”

All of country music’s finest were at the ACAs, including big winner Carrie Underwood, who took home Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Single of the Year, Touring Headline Package of the Year and Female Music Video of the Year. Underwood swooned, “I feel awesome it’s been a great night for sure,” but admitted that she misses new hubby Mike Fisher, who couldn’t attend the event.  “My phone’s buzzing right now, bet that’s him!” Other winners included Lady Antebellum—who scored Group of the Year,  Group Video of the Year and Group Single of the Year honors, plus, Blake Shelton (for hisHillbilly Bone video), Alan Jackson (Greatest Hits Award)  and Rascal Flatts (Decade Award).

Black Label Society has partnered with VEVO for the world premiere of BLS’ hysterical new video “Overlord.” The video can be viewe here

. The video, directed by Master Cylinder, finds guitar legend Zakk Wylde and his Black Label Society in a satire of 70’s Kung Fu movies. Wylde is featured as the Bruce Lee-type action hero (yellow jumpsuit and all) in hot pursuit of the Overlord…in this case an old lady who holds the key to a very special prize. “Overlord” will be the next single from Black Label Society’s latest album ORDER OF THE BLACK; it follows the breakthrough Top 20 rock radio track, “Parade Of The Dead.”

In other Black Label Society news, the first-ever BLS Christmas tune, “The First Noel” is available now on iTunes. The track is a beautiful instrumental which highlights Wylde’s prowess on the acoustic guitar. Black Label Society’s proceeds from sales of the single will be donated to The Zakk and Barbaranne Wylde Foundation at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a charity The Wyldes have long supported. Black Water Rising’s, Rise Tapped as Official Song for the New Jersey Devils

Monday November 1, 2010
Source:
Location: New York City

New York hard rockers Black Water Rising are proud to announce that NHL team, the New Jersey Devils are using their song “Rise”  from their self-titled debut as the Devil’s Army theme song which can be seen in their 2010-11 season opening video. The song is featured as part of the “RISE UP!” Campaign used to rally the Devils and their fans. The song is also being blasted at all Devils home games this season as they take the ice.

Hockey enthusiast and bass player of BWR, Oddie McLaughlin had the following to say about the band’s song being embraced by the Devils and their Legion of fans: I’ve been a huge hockey fan since I was a kid and to have our song ‘Rise’ played before the New Jersey Devils is beyond my wildest dreams. So let’s drop the puck and ‘Rise’ to a new level of hockey. Go Devils!

Black Water Rising’s self-titled debut release is available now on Giddy Up! Records. Giddy Up! Records is a brand new label with distribution through Sony/RED. The album artwork was designed by “Mister Sam” aka Sam Shearon, the renowned artist from England who has done work for Rob Zombie, Godhead and ESP guitars.

Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys announce new album for Spring 2011

Monday October 25, 2010
Source:

In what can only be described as a bizarre coincidence, following an exhaustive re-sequence marathon, Beastie Boys have verified that their new Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 will be comprised of the same 16 tracks originally slated for inclusion on Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.

The record (part 2 that is) will be released as planned in spring 2011 on Capitol.

The tracks originally recorded for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (which now are actually back on Part 1) have now apparently been bumped to make room for the former Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 material. Wait, what?

“I know it’s weird and confusing, but at least we can say unequivocally that Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is coming out on time, which is more than I can say about Part 1, and really is all that matters in the end.” says Adam “MCA” Yauch. “We just kept working and working on various sequences for part 2, and after a year and half of spending days on end in the sequencing room trying out every possible combination, it finally became clear that this was the only way to make it work. Strange but true, the final sequence for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 works best with all its songs replaced by the 16 tracks we originally had lined up in pretty much the same order we had them in for Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. So we’ve come full circle.”

Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 marks Yauch, Mike “Mike D” Diamond, and Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz’s first full length effort since 2007’s Grammy winning all-instrumental The Mix-Up. The new track listing of the album is now as follows:

1. Tadlock’s Glasses
2. B-Boys In The Cut
3. Make Some Noise
4. Nonstop Disco Powerpack
5. OK
6. Too Many Rappers (featuring NAS)
7. Say It
8. The Bill Harper Collection
9. Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win (featuring Santigold)
10. Long Burn The Fire
11. Funky Donkey
12. Lee Majors Come Again
13. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament
14. Pop Your Balloon
15. Crazy Ass Shit
16. Here’s A Little Something For Ya

Recently nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Beastie Boys are the single longest lived hip-hop act to continue to enjoy commercial and critical success. Formed in 1981, Beastie Boys first changed the course of popular music when their 1986 debut album Licensed To Ill became the first hip hop record to reach #1. Since then, Diamond, Horovitz and Yauch have amassed 40 million in record sales of a critically acclaimed canon including 1989’s landmark Paul’s Boutique, 1992’s Check Your Head, the #1-debuting trifecta of 1994’s Ill Communication, 1998’s Hello Nasty and 2004’s To The 5 Boroughs, and 2007’s The Mix-Up. Beastie Boys’ innovative videos earned them MTV’s Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award in 1998, while a Madison Square Garden show shot by 50 audience members was painstakingly edited into AWESOME; I F——N’ SHOT THAT!, which debuted at Sundance in 2006. The band has also been lauded for its humanitarian efforts, ranging from organizing the Tibetan Freedom Concert series which drew attention to the Chinese government’s human rights violations in Tibet, to the New Yorkers Against Violence benefits, whose proceeds went to organizations chosen for their efforts on behalf of September 11th victims least likely to receive help elsewhere.
