Living legend singer-songwriter, musician, performer, actor and American icon Willie Nelson is going back out on the road again with newly announced 2010 U.S. tour dates in support of American Classic, his solo debut on Blue Note Records.

As a Nashville artist in the ‘60s, Willie Nelson penned more than a few tunes that have arguably become American classics themselves, including “Crazy,” “Night Life” and the sublime “Funny How Time Slips Away.” But that was just the prologue for the iconoclastic singer-songwriter, who would redraw the borders of country music in the ‘70s after moving back to Texas and settling in the musical melting pot of Austin. Along with fellow traveler Waylon Jennings, Nelson was labeled the outlaw of the genre, but he was more visionary than rebel, especially with the way he attracted rock fans to take a closer look at country. He was celebrated for his work with buddies like Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, but scaled even greater chart heights by singing, improbably enough, with Julio Iglesias (“To All the Girls I Loved Before”). Along with Wynton Marsalis, recent cohorts have included Western swing band Asleep at the Wheel and reggae icon Ziggy Marley.

Don’t miss your chance to hear Willie Nelson play his greatest hits live in concert at Madison’s Overture Hall on March 16.

Natty Nation's Bob Marley tribute now a Haiti Benefit

NATTY NATION’s Bob Marley Tribute Show Becomes A Haiti Relief Concert at High Noon Saloon

Friday January 22, 2010

Location: Madison, WI

NATTY NATION announced today that their upcoming Bob Marley Birthday show will raise funds for Haiti Earthquake Relief. The band also developed a way for their fans to immediately donate to the relief so desperately needed in Haiti. They are also looking at ways for fans attending their next show to use a lyric from their Hurricane Katrina anthem, “Hurricane” to “throw a lifeline” by donating needed cash.
In partnership with FanBridge, the company that manages the band’s email list and Direct Relief International, NATTY fans can make an online donation to the relief effort. Through Direct Relief, 100% of the money donated goes towards Haiti relief efforts. There are no overhead fees or administrative fees. It’s pure help.
The link to donate: http://bit.ly/Haiti_Natty
Please join the international community in showing support for those in need in Haiti.
On January 14th, NATTY NATION, Madison County & Super Tuesday performed at a Middleton fundraiser for Domestic Abuse Intervention Services. The event raised $28,134. We celebrate and give thanks for the generosity working to eliminate violence.
Bob Marley helped define reggae music as a prophetic voice for the powerless and disenfranchised. NATTY NATION’s music is inspired by Marley but is all original songs.  NATTY does not typically perform Marley’s songs. The one exception is Bob Marley’s Birthday Show. How fitting is it to hear Marley’s words as we see Haiti suffer?
At the High Noon Saloon on Saturday, February 6th, fans will hear the music that defined reggae as a popular musical genre. They will be reminded that the struggles for basic human rights along with food, clothing and shelter for our brothers and sisters is our struggle and our responsibility. Especially now, it is time for all of us to rise up and share our love and resources with those literally needing a lifeline.
Joining NATTY NATION will be Zach Deputy, Heatbox, Tropical Riddims Sound System and Mt. Zion Sound System. Doors are open at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $7 in advance at high-noon.com or $10 at the door.

VINCE NEIL: ‘MÖTLEY CRÜE Isn’t MÖTLEY CRÜE Without The Four Of Us’

Tuesday July 29, 2008

Location: Arizona

Larry Rodgers of The Arizona Republic recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow.

The Arizona Republic: You seem to have as much energy as ever onstage.

Neil: Playing live, you feed off the audience. You just out there and rock . I don’t feel any older when I’m onstage. We could be playing Whisky A Go Go, for all I know.

The Arizona Republic: Has the recording process changed through the years?

Neil: With technology these days, you don’t really go to a recording studio and sit around like you see in the movies. This record, I never even saw the guys in the band. I did all my vocals at the producer’s house.

The Arizona Republic: THE ROLLING STONES once did that when they weren’t getting along. Should we read anything into this with MÖTLEY CRÜE?

Neil: No, not all. It’s just easier. We all travel on separate buses because we can afford it. People like to read stuff into it. You make your life easy and make the things you have to do enjoyable.

The Arizona Republic: You left the band twice but always returned. Is it similar to working on a marriage or relationship?

Neil: That’s why a lot of bands don’t make it. Once they hit a bump in the road, they quit. We took some time off from each other at one point — but MÖTLEY CRÜE isn’t MÖTLEY CRÜE without the four of us.

The Arizona Republic: Back in the band’s wildest days, did you ever look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I’m pushing things too hard?”

Neil: I tried to be sober back then, but it was tough because there was no support system. After I got into the accident in ‘84 (which left a passenger in Neil’s car dead) and I did some jail time, I was ordered by the court to be sober. . . . You have to stop when you want to stop, and back then, I didn’t want to stop. I wasn’t ever really a drug guy; I just like to drink.

The Arizona Republic: What is the key to being a rock front man who lasts for decades?

Neil: You have to really enjoy what you’re doing and try to deliver the songs to the people out there the way they want to hear it. I try to stay as close to the records as possible because I hate going to see a singer who sings it differently. It drives me crazy.

TED NUGENT Has A Message For A Few Democrats

Tuesday April 29, 2008

Location: Detroit, Michigan

Legendary rocker Ted Nugent has a special message for a few Democrats in this video that has surfaced on LiveLeak and YouTube.

As previously reported, Ted Nugent recently shot some of his scenes for the upcoming movie from singer Toby Keith, “Beer For My Horses”, in New Mexico. The movie follows the exploits of small town deputies and best friends as they defy the local sheriff by embarking on an outrageous road trip to save a girlfriend from drug lord kidnappers.

Nugent plays a character named Skunk Tarver. In an article for the Waco Tribune-Herald, he wrote, “Old Skunk is an uppity, defiant, long-haired, over-the-top rock ‘n’ roll deputy sheriff in Jackson County, Oklahoma, who loves bowhunting and guns. He will do whatever is necessary to keep Jackson County safe from criminal danger.” Nugent added, “Willie Nelson returns as a traveling gypsy circus operator and more familiar Hollywood star actors like Tom Skerritt, Claire Forlani and Barry Corbin bring some magical moments to the screen.”

The rocker got involved with the project after getting a call from his pal Keith, who’s working on the flick with songwriter/comedian Rodney Carrington. “Beer For My Horses” is due out later this year.

Nugent is also eying a TV project. He recently met with New Mexico governor Bill Richardson to talk about creating a “special Ted Nugent ‘Spirit of New Mexico’ outdoors show.” Nugent explained, “In fact, the governor and I are working with his departments of tourism, game and fish, and economic development.”

Ted has some news for us all
