LUCKY DUBE (Philip Dube) - Died Oct. 18, at the age of 43, in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, South Africa, after being shot by carjackers (Reggae). He performed “Together As One” and “Taxman,” and was a member of The Skyway Band and The Love Brothers.

JOE MARTEK - Died Sept. 27, of a heart attack, at the age of 48. The co-founder of Bambi Concert Productions booked acts including Madness, Pere Ubu, John Cooper Clarke, The Stranglers and Iggy Pop.

JEAN MURAI - Died Sept. 28, at 94 (Folk). The singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist led Jean Murai And Company.

STUART SANGRA-KNIGHT (Stuart Knight) - Died in late September after falling down a flight of stairs in his home (Pop). He was 31, and a singer/songwriter.

DANIEL BAILEY - Died in early October of an asthma attack, at the age of 15. He was a drummer, guitarist and singer, and a member of the band Zenith.

TAWN MASTERY - Died Oct. 7, at the age of 53. A DJ and music video producer, she appeared in the film “The Blues Brothers” and produced videos by The Scorpions (“No One Like You”), Greg Kihn (“Happy Man”) and Romeo Void (“Never Say Never”). She also wrote the cookbook “Eat This.”

RALPH KESSLER - Died Oct. 5, born Aug. , 1919. The composer and trumpeter was a music arranger for TV’s, “Arthur Godfrey & Friends” and wrote music for “Murder She Wrote,” “Quincy,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Streets Of San Francisco” and “Barnaby Jones.”

MARTIN KERRANE - Died Oct. 6, near Omsk, Russia, when he was electrocuted at a train station after touching a live electric cable. He was 26, played the bodhran, and was working with Rhythm Of The Dance at the time of his passing.

ENRICO BANDUCCI (Harry Charles Banducci) - Died Oct. 9, in San Francisco. Born Feb. 17, 1922, in Bakersfield, CA, he was the owner of the nightclub The Hungry I, which hosted music acts including The Limeliters, The Kingston Trio, Glenn Yarbrough and Vince Guaraldi and also comedians Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, Woody Allen and Jonathan Winters.

CAROL BRUCE (Shirley Levy) - Died Oct. 9, in Woodland Hills, CA, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Born Nov. 15, 1919, the singer and actress was Mama Carlson on TV’s “WKRP In Cincinnati,” and appeared in the musicals “Louisiana Purchase,” “Along Fifth Avenue” and “Do I Hear A Waltz?”

WERNER VON TRAPP - Died Oct. 11, at the age of 92. Born in Zell am See, Austria-Hungary, the singer and musician was one of The Trapp Family Singers that inspired the movie and play “The Sound Of Music.”

C. WINSTON FORD JR. - Died Oct. 13 in a single car accident, at the age of 56 (R&B). The singer and drummer was a member of The Ford-o-Matics and Phat Daddy, and worked with Earth, Wind & Fire, The Drifters and The Platters.

NICKY JAMES (Mick Nicholls) - Died Oct. 15 of a brain tumour (Rock). The singer led The Nicky James Movement, which later became The Move, and worked with Denny And The Diplomats, Ronny And The Senators, Roy Wood, Bev Bevan, Carl Wayne, Mike Pinder, Graham Nash, Scott Walker, Tom Jones and The Moody Blues Five.

HOWARD HEDGES - Died Oct. 15, from injuries from a fall after his wheelchair tipped over. He was 52, played trombone, and worked with Ray Charles, Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, The Kenai Peninsula Orchestra, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Elders On Fire, Aretha Franklin and Stan Kenton.

TERESA BREWER (Theresa Breuer) - Died Oct. 17 of Supranuclear palsy, at the age of 76 (Pop - Jazz). The singer and actress did “Gonna Get Along Without Ya Now,” “Choo’n Gum” and “Till I Waltz Again With You,” and worked with Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, Don Cornell, Dizzy Gillespie and Wynton Marsalis.

HAYDO SWEENEY (Hayden Sweeney) - Died Oct. 18, at 24, in a single car accident which also took the life of his wife, photographer Bridget O’Brien (Rock). He was a guitarist, and a member of Electric Jellyfish.
