May 29th, 2021 marked the return of one of Chicago’s favorite jambands. With covid slowly releasing is grasp on the planet, we have been thirsting for live music.
Earthmother opened the show with an explosive set of originals and covers. Including an lengthy cover of Rose Royse’s “Car Wash” that did not disappoint.
I did have a moment to sit down with Justin Reckamp to ask him about any immediate tour announcements. “Right now, weekend shows, regional shows, you know, hopefully by the end of the year we’ll be doing more lengthier little shows. One step at a time at this point. We are recording a new record. Very excited about that. We are also planning hopefully a big Halloween show.”
I asked Justin if there will be any changes to the line up and he said, “no more changes”.
“I’d like to say to the fans, thank you for all the support! Its been a crazy year. I mean, without them we wouldn’t be here playing now.”
Mungion then took the stage for two sets which included a foot stomping “Moving On”. The fans, and I, reconnected with the band as if they never left us. The return of Mungion, indeed.
