Trailer Park Boys
On 10/16 The Barrymore Theatre offers us the Trailer Park Boys. I have no idea what their live performance will be like, but the series and movies that spawned the fame of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles was funny, bizarre and filled with characters sporting deep flaws and cantankerous attitudes that made it a knee slapping delight to watch. Originally (and still) aired on the Showcase network in Canada. As TV guide says, “It’s as if The Dukes of Hazzard boys got drunk on Cooter’s moonshine and Uncle Jesse whipped out his handycam.”
In case you aren’t doing haunting on Halloween this year perhaps you could consider going to the Gogol Bordello show at the Capital Theater. Touring in support of their recent Trans-Continental Hustle (produced by Rick Ruben) this gypsy punk phenomenon has been going strong now for 5 albums. The crazy energy of this nine-piece juggernaut is harnessed and focused by head gypsy Eugen Hutz. Their beautifully bent music is infused with ska, metal, rap, dub, punk that will keep you on your toes for hours.

Kazyak - A Beautiful Brontosaurus

Bebobble-deeing between countrified jams and upstart funky rock may show off a classic jam rock band influence, but this friendly and flowing vision utilizes an ambitious combination of elements to create a memorable recording filled with harmony vocals, salient solos and delectable rhythms that are especially admirable for a trio to produce.

Chico Mann - Analog Drift

Except for the effervescent cover of Talking Heads ‘Once in a Lifetime,’ Analog Drift was composed and played entirely by Marcos Garcia who IS Chico Mann. As a member of Anatibala Afrobeat Orchestra he traveled the world and learned all about Afro-Cuban funk which he expertly employs here along with other well chosen influences.
